Gotenks98
I am looking for tablet suggestions for 2 things. One for note taking and/or gaming. If I were to go with a tablet just for note taking what is the best bang for your buck using that. The OS can be Android or Windows 8.1. The screen can be 7 to 10 inches. The main thing is OS upgradeability. I know some OEMs never update their devices. So being able to upgrade is a huge plus for me to get the most life out of the device. Now what would be the best deal on a gaming tablet for Windows 8.1?

nvllsvm
I've heard good things about the NVIDIA Shield Tablet's note taking abilities. Also, gaming performance on it is stellar.
Max Norris
If it's primarily for note taking, probably would also would say a Nexus 7, 2013 model. Picked up a couple a few days ago, OneNote works quite well with it, plus you get very timely updates. Also have a Kindle Fire and it does OneNote decently too, but you're pretty much on your own if you want to go a "traditional" Android route, and have had mixed (at best) results with Cyanogen mod on the thing. Not a fan. Couldn't comment on Windows gaming tablets, have a few but don't game on any of them, not what I got them for.

I just recently started using this app and I can't believe how I have made it this far without it. As I got older is gotten harder to remember stuff. Now I have to write it down or it is forgotten. Case in point leaving the doctors office I forgot what floor I parked on and ended up walking 12+ levels in a parking deck. After that I was determine to have a note-taking solution. farmeunit
Dell Venue 8 Pro is a nice tablet for Win8.1, but not sure about games. I play games on my Android devices or standard desktop. Also the Nexus 7 for Android, I would say. xendrome 1 Share
Max Norris
$200 the problem is I am obsessed with onenote.Yea.. Nexus 7. I know what you mean about OneNote, got it on every device.. phones, tablets, desktops.. absurdly useful program, one of my favorite parts of MSOffice. Maybe toss on a stylus if you're into handwritten notes, finger isn't terribly accurate.

Kreuger
I have an Asus Transformer that's been through hell and still works. I just found a custom rom with Kit Kat for it about a month ago. This rom has breathed new life into a 3 yr old device. It feels fairly quick. So as long as youre open to custom Android roms, you should be fine for long lasting. nukenorman
Once you decide on which bank for your buck tablet you want ( unless its a Chinese one which some of them are actually really nice ) then I recommend buying refurbished online or ebay. I bought my tablet refurbished saved a lot of money. I would of kept the Chinese off brand tablet as it was great quality but I liked touchwiz and the front camera on the Chinese tablet sucked and I use it alot for Skype the colors just where so off for the front cam on video chats. Having said that samsung unless you want touchwiz is definitly NOT best bang for your bucks infact their tablets are so over priced for the specs you get but then at the same time some people like the touch wiz interface wich I do so I bought a refurbished tablet on eBay for cheap price.. I saved about 100 bucks

I play games on my Android devices or standard desktop. Also the Nexus 7 for Android, I would say. I also say go with the Dell Venue 8 Pro you will soon be able to natively duel boot Android with it as Console OS just got funded on kickstarter. the dev builds come out next month & 1.0 should be out by December TAZMINATOR and Max Norris 2 Share

Now what would be the best deal on a gaming tablet for Windows 8.1? You can get a refurbished Nexus 7 for $130. Today only. 16gb Is is the newer 2013 version. Normal price is $230 so $130 for a refurbished is not bad at all. http://www.woot.com/offers/google-nexus-7-16gb-tablet-gen-2-15?ref=cnt_dly_img&utm_campaign=Commission+Junction+-+10956019&utm_source=Commission+Junction+Publisher+-+6150544&utm_medium=affiliate+-+home.woot I have used my N7 for a while now and no problems with it. And now with OneNote having more/better features...even better taking notes on.

Nutsnbolts64
$200 Don't rule out a refurbished iPad (if you're into that kind of thing). They're available for under your budget.
DocM
Whatever type you choose, it should have a microSD slot. You can then buy a cheaper model internal storage wise and use microSD's as removable storage media. Very handy.
