Just a random poll question. Get a littler conversation going. Some people I know seem to only use cash, some people I know only use cards, and some mix it up.

I guess the real or alternate question is how "cashless" are you?

I guess I would answer cash, but it's in the form of debit cards.  I don't have any credit cards (save an Amex for emergencies) so if I don't have money in the bank I can't spend it.  I started doing that after getting myself into debt (not horribly, but I didn't like it).  I probably have the "self control" to have a credit card now but I honestly don't miss it.

If the point was strictly about cash vs. using a card, credit or debit, then ignore my meandering ramblings.  I use a card.

Anything to avoid the front page fiasco eh? ;)

I prefer to pay with (credit) card where I can. I'd seriously reconsider shopping at a place that doesn't take a card - which is extremely rare.

Failing that Paypal is my next option, and cash (whether physical or electronic) only if I have to.

Plastic mainly, cash for minor things like a drive-thru and such.  Think I've literally used two maybe three checks, tops, over the past year.. I'm pretty much over checks,  hate using them and a pain in the butt.  Curious if "real" money disappears in my lifetime.

Nearly always a credit card... which protected me better when my card got cloned (as the bank is joint liable and therefore I didn't have any hassle getting thousands of pounds back within just hours!).

Occasionally cash, but rarely these days.

Cards when I can, rack up points, extended warranty for items and other benefits, cash for small business

Same. Cards for the perks.

Credit Card > Debit Card > Cash

Two reasons for this:

Offset mortgage means that it is in my interest to hold on to my cash as long as I can get away with it.

Amazon credit card means I earn Amazon credit as I spend on it.

My credit card balance gets paid in full every month.

yeah. if you manage them right... there is absolutely no reason not to use CC in purchases!

you earn extra points, and you don't even have to pay interest, if you manage them right.

After voting, I realized that I actually use cheques more. Goods get delivered once the cheque gets cleared.

Cards mostly, think the only time I use cash is to pay the barber, haven't had or written a check in 15 years

Saw a lady using a check in the supermarket, not really old, and I was like WTF, people still use checks? It was extremely annoying

Always use my bank card (debit card) for purchases both online (using iDeal, which draws money directly from my bankaccount) and in stores.

Sometimes I use cash in stores, but not much anymore.

For buying internationally i use PayPal, which is linked with my bankaccount.

I do not have an credit card and have never used checks.

There was a front page fiasco? :s  I rarely use the front page.

The problem with always using credit is that you kind of don't always realise how much you're spending., Handing over money is a different psychological experience than swiping, inserting, or tapping your card.

The majority of the time like 99%, card, other 1% = cash. If I get cash out of the ATM, I just tend to use it quicker than if I were to spend with card. I'm just more careful with a card. I'm usually careful with my spending habits w/ plastic - if I can't afford it, I don't buy it, and also utilize up to a certain % of my credit limit.
