Retiring my original tablet

Recommended Posts

I'm finally retiring my old Dell Streak 7 tablet, after 3 years of service. It got largely replaced when I got a Samsung Galaxy Tab, but I kept it around as an alarm clock, since it went into clock mode automatically when attached to the charging base.

But it is getting annoying even for that - had to reset it twice last week. Not a good thing when I'm using the alarm feature. So I'm thinking of tossing it on the tech recycle pile at work.Unless someone has any interesting project ideas for the old soldier?

Is it rooted?

I took the original Asus Transformer I had and gave it to my mom.  Had issues with the stock OS but I tossed on a CM build and it is rock solid now.  She uses it mostly for an ereader and to check email on the go.

if you have xbox one, you can install smartglass on that tablet .... that way, you can control xbox via smartglass...  no problem..

up to you.

Not a bad idea. I haven't used Smartglass much because I like to do other stuff while the movie is playing. But a device just for that . . .

I looked a little bit into rooting it, but never got far. It's not a very popular model, so there isn't a lot of support for the Streak.

Yes. That's what I am doing on my tablet... I have a list of movies on the smartglass and I can pick to play and it will be displayed on the big screen..

Even you can IM to anyone on smartglass while your movie is playing on big screen...
