BaZurk
Hey everyone, I am just awaiting the ddr4 ram that i have preordered to be released for me to finish my build but I have not done a build in four years or so and I wanted to know if there was a gold standard in benchmarking software. Is there a industry/community standard more people then not look to for benchmarking the performance of computers?
Andre S. Veteran Posted September 15, 2014 Veteran Share Posted September 15, 2014 Many tech sites use PCMark and Cinebench, if you want an all-in-one solution, but there are many other tests you can do with free software, like x264, 7-zip, dolphin (https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-new-dolphin-cpu-benchmark-no-game-required), etc. Just check out good CPU reviews for examples. Jason S. Global Moderator Posted September 15, 2014 Global Moderator Share Posted September 15, 2014 are you looking for RAM benchmarks or system benchmarks? i remember SANDRA has a lot of memory-based benchmarks. I like PCMark, 3dmark, and cinebench.
Lenny Bruce
I know 3dMark, and PCMark are used (I don't remember which one is used on Tom's Hardware, however).
BaZurk
Thank you everyone. I am leaning towards PCMark. I wanted an overall benchmark. I appreciate the replies.
