PS3 or PS4? Looking for good exclusives.

Recommended Posts

Sup. Although the title may surprise you, I am giving it a thought for a while now, and I strongly believe that I've missed out many great games this past generation. I currently have a 360, Xbox One, Wii and Wii U (no showoff intended). I like playing games often, and I like the experience they bring: from good story-telling to amazing gameplay, and graphics.

I like a lot shooters, 3D platformers, action games, (RPGs I could play them, but sometimes I feel that I need to invest too much time in them :p). To be honest, what I don't like much are 2D platform games.

So, after seeing Killzone, Uncharted, Infamous, God of War, Journey, The Last of Us and many other franchises that have been exclusive to the Sony counterpart... Should I grab a PS3 (planning to grab one via eBay), or should I wait for remasters on the PS4 platform?

Thanks ;)

It depends on how long you are willing to wait for hd remakes of other ps3 games or if you are willing to stream them via the ps now service at some point. Some of those games may not see a remaster, so streaming them from the ps now service would be your only choice.

I would probably lean toward the ps4. Its just a better long term investment right now and the possibility of streaming any ps3 game to your ps4 would fill your need for access to the back catalog. If you can't afford the ps4 or there are not enough games that you want on it yet, then you might lean toward the ps3 if you can get one at a very good price and then buy a ps4 after a price drop.

Don't expect remasters of everything. And I pray to god we don't get remasters of everything. Pick up a PS3 and games bundle off ebay with all those for cheap as chips plus all the other games this opens up to you.

PS4, it already has the remaster of The Last of Us and another Infamous and Killzone game. A new Uncharted and God of War are also already being made for the PS4.

I most likely won't use PS Now cause I have no interest in playing older PS3 games but I guess the PS4 has that too incase you wanted to play some PS3 classics, but it is a streaming/cloud/whatever you want to call it type service so I don't know how responsive it will be and also there is no guarantee that the old ps3 games you want to play will be available on it.

i would just pick up a PS3!    with the money saved pickup all the games you mentioned.

uncharted collection alone is worth it, if you never played them!

If you are looking for instant gratification, the PS3 is no doubt the way to go. A TON of great exclusives to be played on it.

If you are looking for the best long term investment, I would have to say the PS4, however do not expect more than a handful of games to play on it right now.

If you get a PS3, DO NOT play The Last of Us on it. It really need to be experienced at 60FPS ;)

Tough choice, if its financially based the PS3 has some good deals now and a huge back catalogue. The PS4 is starting to hit it's stride with Driveclub, a lord of the rings RPG (which seems to be getting underhyped), and Bloodborne all out within the coming months. Dragons Age Inquisition as well.

Thanks for the suggestions! I think I could be waiting a couple of months to see how it goes. If I see that there's going to be a remaster of God of War and Uncharted I'll go and grab a PS4. Meanwhile, a good eBay search and bid can bring a great PS3 value with a bunch of games.

Nonetheless, talking about long term investment with the PS4, I have an Xbox One, which will do quite great since both platforms receive most AAA titles.
