I agree with a lot of what he is saying but still think he is saying it wrong.

Fast food and other minimum wage jobs are meant to be an entry into the work force not a job that can support you for your whole life. on top of that these jobs are meant for people that either do not have any skills or have yet to learn them. If you have a marketable skill, then you can get a better paying job. But putting up a strike to get a hire wage is not the way to do it.

(this is my personal opinion)

15 an hour when I wait in line last night for 20 minutes for a soda.  Yea, you deserve that.  And while I am waiting in my car, there are workers just standing at the register waiting for people to walk up while they could have gotten me my drink.

He does have a point.  People feel entitled to things, want to do less but get more.  People do not want to work for things anymore.  Lazy people who want something for nothing.  I worked a min wage job while paying rent, 2 car payments, insurance payment, CC payment....I did this for 3yrs.  Guess what?  I worked my ass off to get out of that funk and where I am now.  And all my bills were paid on time.  Yea, I had to cut back on things like going out, entertainment....but that is what you have to do sometimes.  You do not keep going out and buying things you cannot afford.

I got about 1:15 in and had to stop. Another idiot who has grossly over-simplified view of reality.

it is simple. You think you should be paid more, go somewhere else.

If people go on strike and get fired, guess what.... there are people just waiting for a job to take their place.

Pretty much.  Not to mention that many people put themselves in this situation which can be avoided...then want others to bail them out so they can put themselves right back in the same situation.  Cannot afford kids?  Keep your legs shut.  Dont by expensive phones/tablets or vehicles you cannot afford.  For example, my dad rents apartments and let a tenant slide one month on rent since she needed to get a new car to get to work.  She went out and bought a new Chrysler 300c.  Never paid her rent.  Got evicted.  I understand the need for people to want something, but they are not entitled to anything.  As long as you have food, a rough over your head....anything else is extra.

If I was still a manager and one of my employees did not show up for work for any reason, that is considered a voluntary resignation and I would not hesitate to fire them.

That's not always show it works. I don't know why people have come to believe there are an infinite amount of positions available to everyone, regardless of skill set. The U.S. went from "respect the hard working man with a fair day's wage for a fair day's work" to "Hey, you, yeah you, accept these crappy positions and if you ask for anything better we'll call you a communist!"

Some small towns only really have fast food or minimum wage jobs. One reason why people in these jobs are paid so poorly is that society basically has no regard for people who work in that position & the companies know it so they can treat them pretty poorly.

By the way, the next time you're enjoying the safety of your workplace spare a thought for the workers who used to go on strike to force companies to make safer working conditions. That is, after all why unions formed in the first place.

Exactly my point. There's not. Which is why when someone goes on strike and gets their ass fired 1 new job opening appears which will be snatched up.

But you also have to look at ... how long will it take to train someone else to do their job.

Lets take flipping burgers for instance. How long will it take to train someone to do it good enough ... an hour?

So lets say we raise the minimum to $15 .. So now to cover the increase, the employer has to raise his price too and everything goes up in price. The people making $15 still can't afford anything because of their $15 increase everything else went up in price too not just their salary.

In this case we are talking about fast food, I don't think you are suppose to make a career out of it. Most of them are highschool kids working after school. Was never really meant to raise a family on.

Like Dave Ramsey said, when you took this job you knew what you were going to be getting paid. At that point you could have not taken the job.

Agree with the video 100%  What is most embarrassing is that the wage these unskilled morons are "demanding" is actually higher than things like entry level educators get!

Personally I feel that anyone in fast-food who are so naive about the whole situation to strike that they should be shot.  End of story.

Why is the argument "why should anyone expect to be paid a wage that is actually useful for anything"? The wealth divide in the U.S. probably stems from things like an unliveable minimum wage.

Considering how many subsidies and tax breaks fast-food chains enjoy they'd probably be able to afford raising the wage without significantly raising prices. Moreover, better wages would create better quality employees with less turn-over.

Source? Actually, educators get paid pretty poorly too so I'm inclined to believe it.

Exactly. Striking shot be a capital offence. Shot in the street.

No wonder people working in this industry can't get a liveable wage. Some people hate them so much they want to execute them.

It's been shown that the rate of increase in price won't match the increase in wages, making it a net benefit to raise it.
