Destiny is PS4's biggest launch yet + biggest PS4 sales since Christmas

Recommended Posts

What a week! Since Destiny launched one week ago, it has officially become the biggest PS4 game launch in North America ever. The game broke records for being the fastest purchased and most played PS4 game during its first week on sale. In fact, last week was our single biggest PS4 hardware sales week since Christmas 2013! That?s a lot of PS4s. Thanks, Guardians!

It's going to sell on the Xbox One, I bought it there, but definitely going to sell more on the PS4.  A lot of people still consider it a PS4 only game, considering you only see it advertised on PS4.

I'm still only level 8 lol, haven't had much time due to work, but finally off so hoping I can power level a bit.  I don't even know what the maximum level is.

I don't know either. I'll find out this weekend. I'm guessing 30.

even with the average critical reviews of the game, Destiny is a success. It is clearly a system seller as well. Both Sony and MS are getting a nice boost in console sales thanks to this game.

I'm not shocked at all that this game would be breaking ps4 records.

People are simply enjoying it and spreading the word.

I think with Sony being quite aggressive bundling copies of Destiny with a PS4 for RRP (most places even selling for less than RRP) it has gotten a lot of people to pick up consoles as opposed to just the game. Fence sitters, ps3 owners and the likes.

Next months NPDs should be interesting.

That's also why MS had that deal of getting any X1 game for free when you buy any X1 bundle during the first week of Destiny's launch.

It is a system seller.

I have a feeling that the ndp numbers will be a very nice jump from the previous month for both, but especially for Sony.

Keep in mind for the NPD numbers though that the Destiny PS4 bundle will count only for system sales (that NPD doesn't publicly disclose), not software.

The software numbers NPD does release to the public will only include stand alone retail game sales.
