Promises better discoverability and more customization

As a platform, Steam hasn't been able to keep up with the rate at which new games are coming out -- there were more than 1,300 releases in the last nine months alone, says Valve -- but today's so-called Discovery update intends to address that while also making everything more blue.

The home page now offers a feed of game recommendations (keep scrolling down, and down, and then down some more) and further customization. For instance, if you want, you can opt out of seeing Steam Early Access titles or games only available for pre-purchase in certain banners.

Users can create lists of games that are worth checking out as "Curators," a feature Valve's Gabe Newell spoke of some time ago. (Will it eventually be monetized?) There's also a personalized Discovery queue to sift through and more in-depth search tools.

Valve's overview of the new storefront and the list of changes can be found here.

Because you asked for it:

how did you do it?     with regular printscrn and then assembling few pictures together?   or is there an easier way?

No way, dude, life's too short for that business. I downloaded an app called DuckCapture . . .

this is more of a cosmetic update than anything else. people are always wanting to change things. its' still generally the same albeit a new look. still works and my games aren't broken.

This firefox extension also can take full webpage screenshots

Anything similar for Chrome? I found screenshot apps on the webstore, but I couldn't see any that allowed you to take a shot of a scrolling page.

I LOVE the fact it knows what DLC you already own for game.

No more add all DLC, then delete the one's from your cart manually you already own.

Music player isn't half bad either.  Still don't care for the non-square icons though.

I like the changes. Subtle yet it's far easier to discover new games with steam than Xbox live or psn.

Talking about the music player i have 4 albums in my list?

Legend of Grimrock soundtrack and Trine 2 OST are probably installed by the games but i have "Inspired by" and "OST" dunno what they are and why they are on my list.

I think it looks cool; it will just take time to get used to because we were all familiar with the regular interface.

Also, does anyone know when the Steam Machines were going to come out?

I'm assuming OST is the official soundtrack - part of the DLC matching, I don't have any inspired by on mine yet.  I wish they would have added a subcategory or a better way to move/filter on library locations.

I just found which game installed "Inspired by" and "OST". It's the Witcher. When you select an album there's an option to browse the content on disk this way you can know which game the album is part of. It should be easier to link an album with a game though.
