chances are nothing will ever happen.

To be sure, run a full disk scan on the drive if you REALLY want to be sure, but the chances of something screwing up is VERY low.

I've even had partition magic give an error in the middle of a repartition with no problems whatsoever.

So, I say it's very safe.

well, clearly you messed something up.

did you do a disk scan?

what settings did you use?

90% of the time, repartition problems are the fault of the user. :p

!!!WARNING!!!

What ever you do don't use partition magic 7 to repartion a drive windows 2000/XP on it it wipes it all out and you get a blue screen when you reboot. You will lose EVERTHING. Make sure you back up all your HD first.

Dude, don't instantly tell people not to use something because it screwed up on YOUR computer.

Just because something happened to YOU doesn't mean it will happen to someone else.

I've resized partitions with PartitionMagic 7.0 on Windows XP Pro (All NTFS partitions) numerous times, and it's worked perfectly.

Perhaps it's your setup, your copy, or perhaps you did something wrong?

Next time, don't go off your nut telling people that it's the end of the world, because 95% of the time, it's not. :)

I used Partition Magic 7 on WinXP Pro to change my C: 20GB and D: 18Gb partitions into C: 15.5GB D: 16.5Gb and E: 5GB

It had no problem resizing and making a new partition..

Infact it was easier than I thought..

It sounds like you made a mistake and wiped out the contents of you hdd yaself..

Ok sorry i did go a bit mad, it screwed up my xp install first, then i formatted and tryed it again and it did it again, i then tryed it on win2k and it did the same. It does it on my mates laptop too, i'd just recommend to anyone who is going to use PM7 to back up ALL their HD first as i lost nearly 5GB of Mp3's.

5gb? that's all?

try 35gb of full albums.

try 500gb of full albums like a friend of mine.

but, seriously, backups are recommended i suppose, but I've never had a problem with partition magic EVER. I've used it on numerous systems across numerous setups. I don't see how you can go and screw it up that bad. I think you just set something wrong and didn't really understand what you did. Maybe you didn't even delete your data, you just don't know how to get at it... *shrug*

500Gigs, that's a bit exaggerated, don't you think?

Anyways, Partition Magic 7 f*ed me too. I lost 40Gigs worth of stuff... be it songs, movies, games, apps, and heh porn.

Guess Partition Magic 7 does mess up sometimes. It frozed for me too, damn thing just sit there for like an hour. I don't remember precisely, but it was almost done too.
