iOS8 - iTunes won't sync music. Anyone else?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

So I recently upgraded my iPhone 5s to iOS8.2.

Prior to this, on iOS7.xx, I had about 4500 songs on it.  Now when I try to add or remove songs, using either a USB or WiFi connection to iTunes, it sits forever at "Waiting for changes to be applied".  It eventually completes, after about 20 minutes or so, but NONE of the songs are added or deleted.

There appears to be a TON of posts about his on Apple related forums, spanning all devices.

I'm wondering if anyone in the Neowin community has experienced this. ...and if you found a fix that worked for you.

Regards.

It's you again, you're having issues with iOS8 aren't you? :P

Did you do a restore from iCloud before attempting to re-sync with iTunes? I've just seen the changelog for iOS 8.1 beta and that's an issue that's been highlighted as will be fixed.

There is a temp workaround where you sign out and sign back into iCloud.

Yup.  Me again.  Cursed, I guess.  :-)

I did do the the iCloud restore and sign out/in, as well as some other 'fixes' I found poking around on the internet.  Still not working correctly.

Last night, however, I WAS able to get 95% of my music to sync across...albeit with ALL of the artwork missing.

I found another potential fix this morning that tells you to go to Preferences>>>Advanced>>> and clear the iTunes Cache.  Gonna try that tonight.

I will say though, that the forum threads on this issue are getting larger and larger.

Ah well I guess the good thing is that you're not the only one.

If none of those fixes work, hopefully 8.1 should fix it.

No Dice.  Tried both of those new fixes last night and had the same results.

But, I'm starting to see Apple responses on the forums indicating that they are working on a fix.

At this point I'm giving up until either a iOS patch or new iTunes version is released.

Ah never good. At least you have some of your music available. Hopefully if there's enough people complaining (and sounds like there are) it should be fixed quickly.

I think the next beta is coming out on October 20th. Hopefully patches this prob for you and others.

I've been having issues with smart playlists not syncing properly. Only thing that works for me is to not use them, and make static playlists on the phone of the same content, or use Genius.
