Itunes only opening in "Run As Administrator"

Question

Hi Neowin,

Yesterday I noticed that my beloved Itunes stopped working. The only logical thing I can think that it was linked to was my opening of Windows 8.1 "Music App" for the first time and trying that out. Ever since then, I cannot open Itunes up normally...I have tried reinstalling Itunes at least 3 times, deleting all my Itunes related folders before the reinstall, repairing Itunes, etc etc. Every time I right click Itunes and open with the "Run As Administrator" option it opens fine with my whole library in tact as if nothing has changed.

What seems to be the problem and how can I fix this so i can get back to listening to my music easily???

THANK YOU and any help is appreciated!

By doing a web search, this is an issue that is a few years old.  People have been saying that redownloading and installing iTunes fixes the problem.  I see you reinstalled iTunes, but did you DL a fresh copy of the installation files?

And you getting any errors?

Yes downloaded a fresh copy straight from Itunes website. It installs quickly with no problems, and then when it tells me that it has installed and asks me if I would like to run Itunes immediately I click yes and absolutely nothing happens. If i run it in both administrator and safe mode it will open but regularly it will not.

Also I have noticed that even in these modes that it opens for me, i am NOT able to do basic tasks I used to be able to in Itunes like Drag N Drop functionality to add new files/folders.

Very frustrating and unusual...
