Which PSU?

Recommended Posts

Hi Guys,

Now that I have chosen my case Arc mini R2, which is on the way.  I now need to update my PSU.  Currently, I am looking at the Corsair RM650, mainly because its modular, very efficient, and no noise under normal load, flat cables for routing.  Cheapest price I have found is ?79.99.

I was wondering if there are any alternative PSU's with the above requirements for cheaper.

Thanks in advance.

What's the rest of your system like? The system should be good with 650W, but just make sure we don't need anything more.

That is a nice PSU, btw.

system is pretty basic.  Currently running 4 GB Ram, Pentium Duel Core E5500 2.8GHz, Asus GTX 650 graphics card. 1 x 180GB HDD, 1 x 500GB HDD, 1 x 120GB SD.

Plan is when I have a bigger budget in future I will upgrade the motherboard, CPU and ram.  I know a 650w PSU is a bit of a overkill at the moment.

Should be good since it's made by Seasonic. Techpowerup has a review of it.

This is a very detailed review. Have you also heard of the Superflower Leadex Gold 650W? It's won a few awards lately. I havnt really heard of them until now.

Although I haven't taken a look at particular PSU models lately, I would be surprised if a SuperFlower PSU didn't earn awards. Along with Seasonic, they're the best in the PSU business. In fact, I'd give them the edge right now since they're also cheaper where I live. Good availability and variety are slowly coming to the West, so it's expected that most people aren't yet familiar. When I did research for my current PSU (Seasonic X-560) two years ago, I've read many glowing reviews from reputable sources but there just weren't any to buy at the time.

No, I really cant suggest something better @ that price.

Sure you want to get the "best" you possibly can, but in reality as long as you get "really good", you will be fine.

true! But every penny counts! hard times.

If your current PSU can handle another two months, you could wait for that good ol' American tradition, Black Friday. Almost every country has adopted the damn thing.
