Every ad is auto-playing on IE and Chromium, though now there are long periods of just the grey box with no ads, then suddenly it decides to pull and ad which produces the same stuttering.

 

Seriously, just sit there on the home or forum index and refresh the page.

I'm happy to report ads that "autoplay" but help me out here by submitting a firebug report, a screenshot and link that it goes to (sometimes a screenshot and link aren't enough, so prefer firebug reports) mentioned this a few times already and there's even a thread on what to do when reporting an ad pinned in this forum.

 

And whoever thinks we test "video box/ads" we don't I have no idea what you mean actually.

 

 

What browser/version any extensions being used that can rule it out? I have had issues with the latest catalyst drivers and flash in the past few days and switched to the browser native one instead of the adobe plugin (in Chrome) and rolled back to an earlier version of video card drivers.

I'm on IE11, no add-ons/extensions  besides Flash player of course.. I also get the same issue in Chrome 38.0.2125.104 m with no add-ons. This machine is using Intel graphics drivers for the on-chip i5 4000 graphics chip

Ditto, it happens on every news page, everytime. Can't expect a report for every single video, that would be impossible!

For example, here is a video ad for my region, it is muted by default and doesn't autoplay. This is what should happen. So you can see I want to rule out issues locally before I start disabling all video ads for the sake of a couple of users.

I want to add one thing, I sometimes get two or three audio ads playing at the same time.. the only reason I know that is because the voices and words spoken are of different sentences. I've had a few times when this happens I can not even find a video ad on the page, just what appears to be static image ads.

Alright I have confirmation that auto-playing ads aren't allowed and if they happen to load on Neowin then the best thing to do is get me a Firebug report, this is the only truly successful way I can get an ad removed quickly because the Firebug report includes the client id which our advertiser can then block/check/request changes.

 

The ad in the report from this thread was already removed thanks to the report. Firebug is an extension for Chrome and Firefox and allows you to select the element (in this case the ad) and copy the code that is selected for me to pass on. If you don't know how to use it, a screenshot of the ad/company name and link to where it goes is also helpful, but not always easy to track on the sytem.

I suggest you to tell then how to do using browser own developer tools, I don't think one person will have firebug installed every time plus common user might not install it for such purpose.

 

- Ctrl+Shift+C (in Mac use CMD+Shift+C) to invoke Inspect Tool in Chrome (or Page Inspector in Firefox) then select the video source and bang, Windows Key + Print Scr (Windows 8+ otherwise simple Print Scr and paste in Paint etc to save) to get shortcut.

- F12 in Internet Explorer and then press Ctrl+B after focusing Developer Tools>DOM Explorer. You can get to DOM Explorer by Ctrl+1.

I went to some site last time.  I don't have Flash Player installed.  I have AdBlock Edge blocked EVERYTHING.  I kept hearing the audio but I can't spot any ads on the page.  This must be what you're describing.  But in my case, there's no Flash on my system.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest that all ads coming from http://video.ybpangea.com should be blocked.

These ad's are getting very annoying, now I have this auto popping up over half the screen while logged in
