Problems with printing wireless..

Question

Hy. Few changes for the router and the Canon MP495 seems to refuse printing from wireless devices. The printer is listed on router connected devices..

- set the password for it from their tool with my pc (usb connected).

- errors attached appear on laptop (wireless).

Gives me that port error.. what should be done ?

Thanks!

You said there was a change to the router?    How so?  Did you switch it out with a newer one?

You did not specify, but it is this printer plugged directly into the back of the router for printer sharing?

Have you by chance taken a look at Canon's site for this issue?  Appears they have a known issue with this:

1. I've updated router firmware.

2. No.. it's plugged into the pc which is wired connected to the router. Laptop is connected wireless to the router. Router does not have usb-port (Linksys wrt54gl).

3. Yes :|

Are you just trying to print to it..

And you sharing it from the PC.. Then just hit the PC and the shared printer name vs trying to use the cannon stuff.

Or just put it directly on your wireless and print to it that way.

I want to be able to print independently from the laptop/phone.. through the router.. without pc being started..as it was before..

If you want your printer to be accessible without a computer being on, your printer has to be directly attached to the network either be a hardwired connection at the printer or by a wireless connection at the printer in it's config.

"want to be able to print independently from the laptop/phone.. through the router.. without pc being started..as it was before.."

What I can tell you for fact is if not connected to your wireless, connecting to usb on your printer its NOT going to work that way - you would have to share it via that PC.

Why connect it to your PC if you want it standalone? Just unplug it from your PC and put it on your wireless network - shazam your done!! As sc302 mentions your going to want to make sure wireless AP isolation or client isolation is OFF!
