So they want to become a registrar, so all domains are $12?  Where is there price breakdown?  They provide dns - but only 10million queries a year??  WTF - hope your domain is not popular..

Gold rush to what - there are hundreds of registrars??  https://www.icann.org/registrar-reports/accredited-list.html

While don't have any special love for google - not a hater by any means..  But not sure I get what they are trying to hype up.  I don't see any features that I can not get at any other registar if pretty much just picked it out of a hat..

Who/Why would anyone want/need an invite to a registrar? I don't get it??  There are 100's of accredit ones to choose from - Wow your going to let me create 100 subdomain?  And forward up to 100 email addresses for me - man really where do i sign up!!! ;)

Where is the price list?

Found it https://support.google.com/domains/answer/6010092?hl=en

Man that is very SHORT list of supported domains..  Wow they include support for FREE ;)  That is just freaking unheard of

Private registrations are included at no additional charge.  That alone is enough for me to keep seeking an invite.

"Private registrations are included at no additional charge."

namecheap gives it away for "free" as well for first year.

So from the price list I see $12 for .com, namecheap is $10.69 with 1st year free privacy. Then 10.69 + 2.88 privacy, your looking at 13.57 2nd year. So if you stick with them for 3 years or more than its saving you a few pennies..$1.83 at 3 year mark.. If no changes in price model in next 3 years, etc.

Nothing is really free now is it ;) What if you don't need privacy - then your paying 1.40 per year more for .com for nothing ;)
