win7 Icons on desktop all blank/white

I have tried numerous times deleting iconcache.db, but each time I do and reboot the system, the icons stay the same. Is there some other method of restoring them to there natural state? I have run ccleaner and made sure that the temp files are all cleaned as well, just in case that might have been the issue.

I have even tried sfc/scannow and there are not any integrity problems, I am lost here! Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Do a clean install of your gfx card driver?

It's a laptop therfore the graphics are integrated, I'll check and see what they are and go from there. Thanks!

How did you delete/rebuild the icon cache? From the command prompt, like this...

 

• ie4uinit.exe -ClearIconCache
• taskkill /IM explorer.exe /F
• DEL "%localappdata%\IconCache.db" /A
• shutdown /r /f /t 00

Do a search for rebuilding the icon cache and follow the instructions.  Might help.

Have you seen this happen in a new user account or in safe mode? Curious whether it's global or a user profile issue...

Made a new account, and it happens there as well. This laptop is really taxing me with it;s random errors and other BS!
