ACTIONpack
My nexus 7 will not get pass the Google boot screen. I try to go into recovery mode but when I try that I get the Droid with red triangle. Is there anyway to fix this?
dipsylalapo Supervisor Posted October 8, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted October 8, 2014 Have you tried a factory reset?
Shiranui
If your tablet is on, turn it off. Press and hold the Volume Down button, then press and hold the Power button at the same time until the tablet turns on. You'll see the word "Start" with an arrow around it. Press the Volume Down button twice to highlight "Recovery mode." Press the Power button to start Recovery mode. You'll see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark and the words "No command." While holding down the Power button, press the Volume Up button. (You may have to press it repeatedly) Use the volume buttons to scroll to "wipe data/factory reset," then press the Power button to select it. Scroll down to "Yes - erase all user data," then press the Power button to select it.
ACTIONpack
I did that with the erase and it will not get pass google boot screen. I didn't use a mod ROM or anything. What's the next option?

What's the next option? You've tried the hard reset and that hasn't worked? Try the hard reset again but this time 1 - After choosing recovery mode on fast bootloader screen, you get the Android with the exclamation point 2 - Double click the power button but on the second click hold the volume up 3 - You should then get the recover screen Source If that doesn't work, hopefully someone else has some ideas
Arachno 1D
Did the tablet actually work before you tried the recovery?
ACTIONpack
Did the tablet actually work before you tried the recovery? It was working okay until 2 days ago for no good reason. I didn't try to mess with the backend of the device. Try the last advise. Didn't work. Nononono
HoochieMamma
Flash the stock ROM on it again?
dipsylalapo Supervisor Posted October 8, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted October 8, 2014 Flash the stock ROM on it again? That's probably the only option left. A hard reset should have worked but sounds like the issue is bigger. Really stupid question ACTIONpack (but they need to be asked) does the device have enough power? Have you tried the hard reset with the tablet plugged into a wall socket?
Arachno 1D
If it suddenly failed and the reload didnt work Id suggest it has a hardware problem. Was it dropped?
tsupersonic
This actually just happened to my device just before I was leaving on vacation. I was planning on taking it, but I ended up taking just my phone. I didn't have time to fix it, so I'll defer to this thread if I'm stuck.
Brandon H Supervisor Posted October 8, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted October 8, 2014 I agree with a couple others. try re-flashing the stock/factory rom to see if it helps here's some instructions if you need them http://www.androidbeat.com/2013/11/flash-factory-image-nexus-device/ if this doesn't help then yeah it may very likely be a hardware issue
300z
This sounds exactly like the problem I'm having with mine and unfortunately it's a hardware problem, it can't access the cache partition, most likely due to a faulty memory chip. Needs to have the motherboard replaced. :(
ACTIONpack
If it suddenly failed and the reload didnt work Id suggest it has a hardware problem. Was it dropped? Yes the device was drop but didn't stop working after it was drop. So what are my options now? I had the device less than a year. Would Google give me a replace me? dipsylalapo Supervisor Posted October 8, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted October 8, 2014 Yes the device was drop but didn't stop working after it was drop. It sounds like that could be cause of the issue. Something may have been knocked loose when it was dropped and over the last few days it's become detached, and you're seeing an error as a result. Try Brando212's suggestion of flashing it, that should sort out any issues if the problem is not hardware related. If that doesn't work, it's probably the drop that broke it. ACTIONpack
I got the nexus 7 on Craigslist. Don't think Asus will give me a replacement. Got it mid last year.

It sounds like it's over a year. You could still contact them and find out the cost of repair? Or maybe someone offers the service locally.
