Haggis Veteran Posted October 8, 2014 Veteran Share Posted October 8, 2014 Hi guys Do any of you use a LiveCD/USB for when you do online banking/financial transactions? I been thinking of making a little usb dirve for my grandparents that they can plug in and it will auto load up and open a browser for them to do online banking and such 1. do you think this will work 2. Does a liveusb still allow you to write to it?
Brandon H Supervisor Posted October 8, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted October 8, 2014 i don't personally do this but it should work fine if you want to create a persistent usb install than Ubuntu (Fedora sometimes works too) is your best bet with one of these 2 tools http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/ http://www.pendrivelinux.com/liveusb-install-live-usb-creator/
+BudMan MVC Posted October 8, 2014 MVC Share Posted October 8, 2014 While this might be taking it a bit over the top, and a bit complicated for grandparents. Sure pretty much any linux distro could be used as live be it CD or USB.
Haggis Veteran Posted October 8, 2014 Author Veteran Share Posted October 8, 2014 I dont want persistent though but thats fine as i want it to be read only so no malware/viruses etc can be written to it :) While this might be taking it a bit over the top, and a bit complicated for grandparents. sc302 Veteran Posted October 8, 2014 Veteran Share Posted October 8, 2014 why don't you deep freeze a windows installation on a secure computer/laptop?
Effect
Just create a bootable Ubuntu usb drive. http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows Maybe do a persistent drive so you can set up bookmarks, icons on the desktop.
