anguilla1980 Posted October 8, 2014 Share Posted October 8, 2014 I just got a Surface Pro 3 i7/8GB/512GB version for work. Is it at all possible to upgrade it from 8GB RAM to 16GB of RAM? Are there any companies I can send it off to who can professionally disassemble, upgrade the memory, and correctly reassemble it? Preferably of course an authorized MS repair place so the warranty is not voided! I ask because for 50% of my work I run Windows 7 Pro in a Hyper-V machine and 16GB of RAM would make a HUGE difference to me for what I run in the Windows 7 environment. Another alternative, is if the MicroSD slot supports cards fast enough to be used as extra RAM using ReadyBoost? Microsoft's own store doesn't even specifiy that which standard MicroSD the slot actually supports tho, SDHC, SDXC, what? Thanks! Alex Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Also, readyboost isn't to give your system extra ram it is to speed things up in certain situations. Since the system has an SSD drive already, readyboost won't be able to be enabled using any external devices since it won't make any difference. codrutoctavian Posted October 21, 2014 Share Posted October 21, 2014 Since you are using Hyper-V you may try the dynamic memory allocation, the VM will lower the memory required when not needed.
