Many games use it to add to the experience. For example, having it loaded while playing Dead Rising 3 on the Xbox One, you'll get random calls which give more missions, and allow you to call in favors during the game as well.  It's a great concept, although I don't know how wide spread it's going to be.

It also functions like an extension of your Xbox Dashboard, mirroring information and providing a better input scheme in some cases.  You can use the OneGuide on SmartGlass rather than opening it on the TV.  You can also control all TV/Cable Box/Receiver functions using SmartGlass.

And also gives you basis controls when using your Xbox, you can use it for navigating through the dash. Works well as a remote for music and films.

So basically, there would be no need for the Xbox remote?

Also, how do I know what games use Smart Glass? For example: Destiny

Nope there's no need for one, if you have Kinect, you don't even need SmartGlass. You can use voice.

Sometimes it is just easier to use a remote, lol. I hate having to repeat myself a few times, it's currently to high, and it would be to low if I took it off my TV.

You will see the label on the games ... for example "smartglass enabled" or something like that... so the games will work with smartglass which allow you to view the data on the smartglass while you play games on the TV.  Such as Madden '15.

Even the movies, while you watch the movies on TV and you want to know how the movie is made or who the actors are, the information will be displayed on the smartglass. Similar to Google Movies on Android devices.

Plants VS Zombies Garden Warfare uses smartglass to enable a tablet/smartphone user to be an active third player along with the people playing on the Xbox. It works in a similar way to the WiiU pad. That player gets a top down view of the map and plays a mini game that can drop items down to the other players in the game.

Its a fun addition.
