MOUNT HOPE, NY -- Authorities say they're looking for two suspects in connection with the shooting of a New York City man just minutes after he had been released from an upstate prison.

Police say the 33-year-old ex-convict was shot around in the Orange County town of Mount Hope around 10 a.m. Thursday, about 15 minutes after being released from the medium-security prison in nearby Otisville.

The man managed to get to the nearby Metro-North train station, where someone called 911. State police say the man underwent surgery at Westchester Medical Center. Information on his condition hasn't been released.

Officials say two men were spotted fleeing the scene in a car with Illinois plates.

Police say the man had intended to take a train back to Manhattan but was offered a ride at the last minute.
