Security Cameras: Swann, Night Owl, Lorex and Foscam, do you have one?

Hi Everyone,

I tried to find a discussion to see if anyone discussed different security camera & DVR systems because there are so many of those out there and it's hard to find a good one & see the quality unless you actually bring one home and try it.

 

I was able to narrow the selection to

A) Night Owl Pro systems, prefix X9, Model 84-1TB (Which indicates X9, 8 Channel, 4 Camera, 1GB HDD) 960H, 900 TVL (960x480), for $300

B) Lorex 8 Channel 8 Camera system (720p, 1280 x 720 [Claims double 960H], 130ft Night Vision, H.264)  for $400

C) Swann, 8 Channel 3 Camera System (960H, 960 x 480, TV Lines, 82ft Night vision,  $350

I just find these systems to be more competitive compared to getting 3 or 4 Foscam cameras, which are not even rated for outdoor use (not weatherproof) and you still need to buy the software and have a dedicated PC running 24x7 if we want to record.
