Galaxy S5 question.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I just bought a brand new Galaxy S5 unlocked from a retailer for $500. I thought the deal was good so I bought it and it's my first android device. So I had a question about storage. Do you guys keep stuff like songs, videos and pics on internal memory or sd card? And do you think that, the more loaded internal memory, the less performance you get?

i use internal memory, it is enough for me (as well as some stuff in the cloud)

no, the available internal storage does not affect the performance.

unless maybe you get it to 99-100% percent full.... (i don't know how caching works on android exactly)

so, do not worry about it.

You should always keep about 10% of your internal storage free. Anything after 90% of use will slow down performance.

SD card storage is good since you can easily remove and backup your info.  If you use an SD card, get a Class 10 card.  Pay a little more, but better performing.

I always use SD card for the same reason...

Want to upgrade android? Remove SD card without worrying about losing any valuable information. As for performance, I remember there was an article ( I'll try to find it) that how android caches videos and photos in the gallery, having a high performance card is only needed IF you are playing high bitrate movies (bluray and above). That said, I bought a class 4 32gb sandisk for my galaxy s4 and now g3... no issues whatsoever.

Go for the 2nd Amazon SD card link you posted.

As far as a tempered screen protector, just do a search and read user reviews...
