iPhone 5S / iPad Air, both on iOS 8.1, run just as fast, and battery life on 8.0.2 was just the same as iOS 7.x. Love the new features, especially handoff. Third party keyboard support could be improved, but glad to have Swiftkey. 

 

iPod Touch 5G, on iOS 8.1, a lot slower than iOS 6, and iOS 7. Can't speak to battery life as it has always has a power source.
