Safari and Chrome issues. (wont open webpages without https

Recommended Posts

safari and chrome will no longer open webpages unless the webpage starts off with https://

Firefox still works fine. Im not sure what the problem is, ive tried various things like deleting cookies, looking for viruses. but i dunno. If anyone could help that would be awesome.

thanks.

Quick Google Search says Sophos may be the reason why. Do you happen to have it installed?

If not, I would then check out what settings you have under System Preferences > Network > Choose your current connection and click the Advanced button > Proxies and see if you have Secure Web Procy (HTTPS) checked under "Select a protocol to configure"

If that is not checked off, also check to see if there is anything listed under Bypass proxy server settings.

Copy it into a text file, delete it and see what happens. If something happens you can always paste it back.

I do believe the *.local is normal, I have seen that before.

Currently I do not have any entries in mine. I can share that.

Nice I responded before you put that last sentence.

Glad I could help. (Y)
