+Frank B. Subscriber² Posted October 29, 2014 Subscriber² Share Posted October 29, 2014 Multiple choice poll. 95% of the time I'm using an app on tablet or smartphone to read books. On some occasions I like to sit down with a real book made out of real dead trees though. What are your preferences?
ZakO
I find it much more comfortable reading from eInk/paper than a computer/tablet/mobile, most of the time I use an e-reader. If a book is particularly code/diagram-heavy and doesn't display correctly on an e-reader I'll try to get the paper book or use a laptop as a last resort. +E.Worm Jimmy 1 Share

+virtorio MVC Posted October 29, 2014 MVC Share Posted October 29, 2014 Well, since Audiobook isn't an option, I checked "Using an app on a tablet." and "Read? I have no patience for reading!" (seeing as I've never technically finished a book).
cork1958
Only way to read a book is to actually have a book! I'd either be totally blind or crossed eyed as all get out if reading on a tablet or phone especially. Not to mention the headaches!! tsupersonic
Physical copies of books, or on my Kindle Paperwhite. Still don't get why people read books on a phones or other tablets without e-Ink. It's not pleasant on the eyes! I use an iPad for magazines. +E.Worm Jimmy 1 Share

Max Norris
Not an anti-paper snob or anything, but haven't read a physical book in years. Started with a first gen Kindle then eventually dropped it in favor of a tablet due to the convenience factor, keep a few hundred books on that now. DConnell Member Posted November 7, 2014 Member Share Posted November 7, 2014 I read from left to right, and from top to bottom. Unless I'm reading manga, then it's right to left. I use my tablet(s) for a lot of my reading these days, but for some magazines I stick with good old-fashioned paper. G-Fan isn't available on Kindle! Jose_49 1 Share

Syanide
I have a Nook Simple Touch, and I love the device, it's really practical, but if given the choice, I'd always go for a physical copy. So it's between those two. I really dislike reading on smartphone/tablet screens, did it with the first three Game of Thrones books, my eyes didn't have a fun time. Charisma Veteran Posted November 28, 2014 Veteran Share Posted November 28, 2014 I love physical books, but I read more these days on my Samsung tablet. In night mode with the brightness down it's very easy on the eyes. And Google Books has so many classics you can download for free.

MS Bob 11
Kindle of course. Several advantages (sorry if my argument sounds like an advertisement for Amazon): :p - Space saving when your book collection is large- Cheaper costing eBooks, you can sideload them yourself- Many legally free books- Books will last forever, no paper rot- Portability, Comfortable to hold, Reading in bed - Several weeks of battery life- Gadget Love- Vast choice of books That said, I do read on real, paper books too, it's not like one has to choose.
