iPhone 6 is bricked - Hooray !

Recommended Posts

Well, I decided I wanted to return everything back to factory so I went into Settings, and selected the erase all data & settings.

Upon reboot it stuck @ the apple logo and progress bar.  It has been there for 4 hours now.

I have held down home button and power button for 10 seconds to reboot it and try reset again - but it just goes back to the logo screen with progress bar.

I even let the battery run down, but no difference

Just my luck.  Sunday night, cant get to the apple store till tomorrow afternoon & I have a job interview with CA (Computer Associates) @ 11:00.

Lovely

Was it jailbroken?

You may need to do a DFU restore. With the phone off, hold the power button - once you see the apple logo, wait one second then press the hold the home button (don't let go of the power button yet!). When the apple logo disappears, wait 3 seconds then release the power button, continue holding the home button for 10 seconds, then try to restore it.

Ooh, these things always happen at the best of times. Assuming it's a GSM phone, do you have a friend with an unlocked/carrier branded spare phone?

Boot it into recovery mode and restore it through iTunes?

I dont think that is an option as I cant get it to do anything other than holding down home button & power button will cause it to reboot.  Then it just goes back to the loading screen.  But, I will see if plugging it into a computer with iTunes might kickstart the wheels moving.  Its a good idea, thank you.

It was.  There were no problems with the jailbreak.  I simply didnt see the point in jailbreaking after I did it.  It was kinda pointless IMO.  So, I decided to set it back to factory and start fresh with no jailbreak...or so I thought.  I am going to try again and again to get it to power off.  All I can do is get it to reboot by holding down power & home button for a long time.  I will try your hard reset method a few times before trying to see if iTunes will get it moving.

The only one who could help is in Kansas City for the world series & hasnt made it back yet (probably got drunk in casino and cant figure out how to get home)

I started a gaming pc build for someone tonight, so I am juggling a few things at once, but I am only concerned if the IT Director w/ ca tries to get ahold of me... that will be bad if he is like so many other hiring managers (ready to chew you up and spit you out if you aren't 110% of what they are looking for)

Wish me Luck :/

If you can get the device to power off (even in a boot loop this is often possible by holding the power button down for a long time), then you can home + cable in trick to get it into recovery mode then restore with iTunes.

Even if not, I just had a device that was booting (just started to show Apple logo) and I threw the cable in and held the home button down to force it into recovery. Was prepared for that not to work, but it did!

Good luck! :)

A DFU mode restore will fix it (if you can't do this the guys at the Apple store will be able to do it for you).

An FYI for the future - never use the "Erase all contents and settings" button when you're jailbroken. It will always send you into a boot loop - because the jailbreak modifies files on the boot partition, causing the erase process to fail.
