You Can Play Grand Theft Auto V In First-Person On PC/PS4/Xbox One

Article From Headline: Kotaku

It was rumored before, but this is still sort of surreal to write: the upcoming current-gen remake of Grand Theft Auto V will have a first-person mode.

Yep, if you decide to purchase Rockstar's massive open-world game again, you can experience it all in first-person, from bank robbery to bike stunts to airplane theft.

Rockstar announced the mode today on IGN, where they've got a trailer showing how you'll be able to play as GTA's trio of degenerates from a more personal perspective. Footage shows the player driving, shooting, and flying in first-person, which is hardly new for a video game but definitely new for Grand Theft Auto.

GTA V comes to PS4 and Xbox One in two weeks, on November 18. The PC version is out in January.

I honestly have to say my interest went from not very interested because I already played and beat the game on PS3 (loved it) to extremely interested, as this is a true remaster as it really brings a whole new perspective to things, literally and figuratively.

Pretty damn cool, and very smart from a business standpoint, of R* to do this.

I find sniping people in first person view to be much more of a personal thing. It brings a whole new depth to the game. Really looking forward to this!

Haha, wow! Like you, when I read the headline I thought, "meh. Why would you want to play GTA in a first person mode?" having tried said view in GTA 3 in the cars and it was generally a nightmare. But then I saw the video, and I'll be more than happy to have the added view when I finally buy the game! That looked awesome!

And just to reiterate as I am sure a few people might read this and say "so, PC version let you do this with mods already."
This is not simply just a mod that changes the camera angle of the game and calls it a First Person Shooter.

This is R* redeveloping the game to include FPS support.

  • first person mode is a fundamental rework of the game, not a 3rd person version where the camera has been tricked to look first person."
  • 3,000 animations for the gun reloads?
  • New "locomotion animation" when you start running
  • Phone exists as full 3D object
  • If you look down you see your legs
  • You see tracks changing on the stereo in the car
  • You toggle First Person mode using the touch pad on PS4... Maybe the back/menu button on X1?
  • Controls in first person are very customizable... With new aiming settings
  • There is a setting to have it change to 3rd person if you get hit by a vehicle or something else disorienting. You can turn this off as well.

Still not enough to make me rebuy or replay.

The ending is just that bad :/ Haven't touched the game since I finished it launch week.

I didn't think the ending was bad, unless you choose poorly. But there is far more to the game than the ending!!

I saved all 3 characters, which is the choice I wanted, but it's still a huge let down when the script was so strong at the start of the game.

If they support Oculus I'm sold twice over. This looks awesome.

I'm going to pick it up for XB1, but if they bring out Rift support for the PC version when it comes out, i'm sold.

It'll be the only game i own on three different platforms :p

I wish they'd added more heists to the game. They were some of the best parts of the campaign mode.

It's the one (massive) thing that's still missing from the MP. Hopefully the X1 and PS4 versions will bring them.

I'd prefer them in SP mode as side missions as well to be honest.

From a gameplay point of view this is the only ending to really go for. The ending did seem a bit meh, as if they wanted to try and throw a big moral choice at the gamer. Makes DLC a headache as well.

I'd much rather there was just one well thought out ending instead of "three".

God dammit.

Well, still going to wait until the price drops a bit, still can't convince myself to drop $60 again, especially when the MP is so bad.

Will be shorty after relaunch. But of course anything could happen.

@Soniq the multiplayer on PS3 is bad yes only bc of squeakers, modders, glitchers and just flatout butthurt people that get ###### off bc you take their 1k bounty or you blow them and their Entity, Zentorno up for trying to drive backwards to kill oh yeah plus the jet griefers can't leave those out!

You can put money on them already thinking this.

If they're not, they're mad. They have one of the biggest franchises in the world and virtual gaming seems like the next logical step.
