Kubuntu 14.04 or Debian testing + KDE?

Recommended Posts

I have been running Kubuntu 14.04 on my laptop for a couple months. It's fine most of the time, but there are annoying bugs that pop up from time to time which forces me to restart. It's so annoying that I'm look into switching to another distro such as Debian testing + KDE. Will Debian testing be more stable than Kubuntu 14.04? I don't want to go through the hassle of resintalling everything and find out there are no improvements in stability.

Well, Debian will give you the latest and greatest, but not really as secure. Similar to Arch, it can break.

It's probably the hardware I'm running it on which is a Dell n4110 laptop. Plugging and unplugging the VGA cable will sometimes distort the displays on both the laptop and external monitor and it won't got back to normal without a restart. I can't wake up from sleep sometimes, which results in losing all my work!

I'm using the Intel HD 3000 driver that comes with the installation.

don't know much about intel as all i ever had have been amd/ati related, but you might give the driver from the intel website a try
