Chrome changes color depending what the site sets it to.

Indeed, for example, Internet Explorer 9 does this too on Windows.

It's part of the new "Material Design". They've been porting it over to other G apps so i wouldn't be surprised to see this come to non Lollipop devices.

 

As far as i know you have to add ANOTHER meta tag to your site to set the colour.

Glad I don't use Chrome then no matter what OS I'm on. Would hate for some one to walk in on me while using that and think I'm a perv, or something, for having a sexy browser. ;)
