Latest update killed Metro Apps

I update three different computers and have the same issue with all three - Metro apps can't open and show minimized on taskbar. Anyone else?

I just applied all the latest updates on 8.1, and I can successfully open News, Weather, Code Writer apps normally...

 

Is there anything getting logged in Event Viewer?

 

Only immediate thing to come to mind is trying wsreset, or try the apps troubleshooter program from this page:

Seems like another reboot fixed the issue. However, it seems metro apps do not work after the latest update. News, Facebook, etc.

I was able to recreate this behavior on two Lenovo laptops and one custom built PC. I update, reboot, launch a metro app and it looks like it is opening and immediately minimized to the taskbar. I reboot again and everything works fine. Same behavior on all three.

My Facebook crashes a lot now, and don't get notification numbers on some live tiles.

Some other weird app related stuff too, and I'm on a brand new computer with fresh OS install of Windows 8.1 from factory.
