+longgonebn Subscriber² Posted November 13, 2014 Subscriber² Share Posted November 13, 2014 Not sure if this should be somewhere else, but. I am getting a chair mat made for myself. One like UnderFootMedia used to have. From my experience with printing and graphic design, to print something at the best quality it needs to be 300PPI. (most defaults are 72PPI) I really enjoy the Nebula images from Nasa, my favorite being Jet In Carina. Sadly...when I take their largest image of this, its a tiny box inside of my 300PPI file. I found another nebula that works, but not as nice. Does anyone know where I can find a high res image of Jet In Carina that is basically, 20000x16000+ in size. That is about the size of the image I found that did work.
zhangm Supervisor Posted December 1, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted December 1, 2014 Realizing that this is a pretty late reply... Given that it's going to be on the floor and not at normal reading distance, it's likely that a print at 72 DPI will be perfectly fine (as long as you're not holding the chair mat like you would a book or newspaper). It's likely that any image that you find online with a higher resolution has been scaled up from the original NASA-hosted sources anyway.
