cbrookhart
The factory installed HDD on my HP Envy M6-K010dx failed after two years. I replaced it with another HDD. Fit unknown reasons, that drive failed after just three weeks. I'm now making the change from HDD to SSD.I picked up there computer from being serviced and brought it home. When I turned it on, Windows was very slow to respond. Nothing would open, not even the change PC settings. I also couldn't get the wireless networks to open so I could get online. When I changed to a wired connection I couldn't get IE to open. Since the original configuration of this computer was a HDD and now I'm switching to a SSD, do I need to update the BIOS to get the SSD working? Mindovermaster Moderator Posted November 14, 2014 Moderator Share Posted November 14, 2014 Well, you probably are still running in IDE mode, not AHCI. Do NOT change this in BIOS, Windows would go haywire.

Mindovermaster Moderator Posted November 14, 2014 Moderator Share Posted November 14, 2014 I know, warwagon, im just saying, don't try doing it without changing it in Windows first. That may be the least of his troubles, though.

Hum
I would Reinstall Windows from scratch, from a DVD. You probably need to install HP motherboard chipset drivers too. [download your model's from HP support] When I changed to a wired connection I couldn't get IE to open. You probably need to change internet connection in IE Settings.
