Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel! co-op with no friends?

Hi guys, I'm thinking of buying Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel but I don't have any friends that will play it.

 

Can it be played in co-op mode with random people? If so, how is the game flow, communication, etc? Is it worth it this way instead of just solo mode?

 

I would gladly appreciate any info on this. Thanks!

You can random it but it's not as enjoyable as with friends. It's fine if you don't have any alternative. That said, it shouldn't be hard to find people willing to play on the Steam forums or similar.

 

I'd offer to play with you but I only have Borderlands 2.
