Xerino
Ayan Qureshi is in many ways a normal young boy. Apart from the fact that, at the age of just five years old, he passed an exam to become the youngest Microsoft Certified Professional ever. Ayan?whose dad happens to be an IT consultant?had to answer a selection of multiple choice, drag-n-drop and scenario-based questions to pass the test, which is usually taken by people who want to become IT technicians. He explained to the BBC that he found the exam "difficult but enjoyable." "The hardest challenge was explaining the language of the test to a five-year-old. But he seemed to pick it up and has a very good memory," explained Ayan's father Asim to the BBC. "Too much computing at this age can cause a negative effect, but in Ayan's case he has cached this opportunity." Since passing the exam, Ayan has built his own home network, and spends around two hours each day learning about operating systems and software. Apparently, he hopes to set up a UK-based tech hub one day. Source http://www.bbc.com/news/technology-30054140
compl3x
Good for him, although I find it suspicious his father, who is in IT was involved. Did he help him in anyway?

neufuse Veteran Posted November 17, 2014 Veteran Share Posted November 17, 2014 I find something hard to believe about this.. until the kid can actually do the stuff in real life, I don't care if you passed a test... show me in practice what you can do with no help... and why do they never say which test they took? It's not like there is only one.... there is a bunch, and to become a MCP you can just pass an easy one.. call me when the kid has a complete course passed and not just a single test, like a MCSA, MCSE, MCSD or any of the big ones... anguilla1980
My oldest son who just turned 15, when he was 3 could already install a game from CD including entering the alphanumeric key. He kept doing this after we removed the game from his PC because he figured out how to reenable gore and cuss words. Then at 7 he hacked into Disney's servers to steal game money in Club Penguin and was banned for life lol. He had tried asking me how to do it and I told him to run his owner server if he wanted to run cheats, NEVER hack a corporations server. So much for parenting advice lol. He has basically been grounded from the computer for half of his entire life for all kinds of meyhem. Still as an I.T. professional myself, I would never encourage him to go into the same field. I'm sure at the same age my kid could have passed the same test if we simply went over the literature together to study before hand so I see no "shenanigans" far as cheating during the test, it wouldn't even be needed. Just sounds like the dad thought it would be cool to do. As mentioned, taking a test studying beforehand is MUCH different from real world practice. Praetor
in another forum i saw this news and i say the same in here what i've said in there: if the kid, at that age, can: - read - write - understand the technical questions - understand the underlying OS (he did the Support Windows 8.1 exam) - and passed without cheating (dumps) then he has merit. Otherwise i seriously doubt it.

ITOps
All it takes to pass most technical certification exams is some consistent study time, VMs and/or a nice physical network of servers. Want to get that nice $150,000+ year minimum salary, increase your worth and knowledge by studying and increasing the speed and accuracy of your craft. It is good the kid has his certification but I hope his father helps him stay on the path to learning and achieving more. If so he could be another rare high salary young employee, a highly paid and certified consultant or a business owner by his 18th birthday. I did MCSD at 9 (2002). 4 exams. Whirlwind experience! :) I hope this boy writes more and finishes a group instead of just one MCP
PGHammer
Actually, I DON'T find it the LEAST surprising - considering that the record he broke was set by another pre-teener back in - don't faint - 1994. And the MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) is the EASIEST one - which over a quarter of the ADULTS taking FAIL first-time out. (There are only THREE certifications in the MCP track - Administrator, Developer, and Engineer.) It's pretty much certain that he will take at least one more - I know of few MCPs that stop at just one certification. (It is said that MCP certifications are like potato chips.) A Real American!
Okay. Here's a thing you guys might not know. In countries like India/ Pakistan or any other backward countries; When you take Microsoft/ Cisco Exams or any other IT exams, If you slip in some roughly $10 under the table, you get all the help from the people working in that test location. I know many people who have done it and I even know such testing sites. I have seen it myself when I was on Vacation in India (Chandigarh to be precise, a Well known City for its beauty.) Such testing locations have no camera or security features at all. All they do is, take you to an isolated room which is locked from inside and Have their answers ready. To be complete smart-asses; They intentionally give you one or two answers wrong so that no one is suspected. In short; You can have your MCSE within a month; without studying, or having any IT knowledge at all. All you need is to know how to use Mouse and Keyboard and you get MCSE. I challenge all these 5yo and 10yo kids to take the exam in front of public and or in the US and see, if they can even answer a single question. fusi0n
This is why I prefer experience over testing/education.. both is really good..
