Android 4.4 : When you tap the dialpad you get a white screen.

Recommended Posts

Issue

This is for anyone using Android 4.4 (kitkat) and maybe even other versions too. When taping the dialpad, you get a white screen . If you tap the back button and then tap the dialpad again, the numbers will then show up

Cause

When you turn on developer mode and then proceed to turn off Animation duration it causes the problem. When you click the dialpad there is an slide-up animation which is suppose to occur. With Animation Duration turned off, when clicking the dial pad all you get is a white screen.

Solution

Set the Animation Duration from Off to 1x

Settings / Developer Options / Animation Duration.

Thank you! I had this issue for months, I got used to it eventually... Now it works as it should :D

If you can reproduce this issue, you should setup a bug report on;

It is a well known bug, I remember reading about it on Xda and having the bug on my custom ROM, but I didn't follow the discussion back then, to see if they have a solution.
