Remember Insecam? A site that had access to more than 73,000 cameras from all over the world? If not, it's no big deal, as the site has now been modified by the admin to perform as an advert for a programmer looking to find employment.
Although the former site is a mere shadow of itself, Insecam.com at one point hosted more than 73,000 cameras feeds from unsuspecting individuals, businesses, and companies from around the world. Interestingly, the website didn't host feeds of hacked cameras, but feeds of people or companies that failed to change the default security codes for their recording devices. Although though the website did state that it was trying to emphasize the importance of a security issue, the admin was clearly also profiting from the site by way of banner advertisements.
While the motive for the site was a bit unclear at the time of discovery, it looks like now, just maybe, the site admin was simply looking for a job opportunity. As the site now states, the programmer is proficient with Linux, FreeBSD, C/C++, Python, and MySQL. So, if you are currently looking for a former peep cam site operator with the skills listed prior, than Insecam's admin might be your ideal candidate!
Update 10:50am GMT: Apparently the job search did not go well, or the publicity has prompted the owner to re-enable the website. At the time of this update the site is back up with its insecure peep cam feeds.
