Microsoft pulls the plug on unlimited MixRadio downloads in India

Microsoft will soon be discontinuing the MixRadio unlimited downloads service in India and existing users can no longer renew the service.

MixRadio has been one of the selling points for Nokia's Microsoft's Lumia smartphones in the past but now it seems the company has different plans for the service as a recent FAQ update has revealed that users will not be able to renew their subscription.

You will no-longer be able to purchase renewals for your unlimited download subscription via Operator Billing, Credit/Debit Card or Voucher as this feature is no-longer available.

The streaming MixRadio service will still be functioning on your Lumia WP8 device without the unlimited download subscription, where you can enjoy all of your favorite artists and discover new ones.

Although, the service itself will function as before, the ability to download and store mixes for 30 days was beneficial with respect to data consumption and network availability; new Windows Phone users were provided with one year of free subscription to this service until now.

On a global scale, Microsoft cut the cord on free Xbox Music streaming and it was widely believed that MixRadio would replace the service. While this could still be true, the removal of one of the key features of the service can result in disappointment for users, new and old.
