gameboy1977
Facebook34 Twitter196 livefyre1 Email Print (Fairlife) Coca Cola is bringing a new milk product to the market that it?s claiming is more nutritious than regular milk but will cost twice as much. Fairlife is slated to be released in the U.S. in December and contains twice the protein and calcium of regular milk, with half as much sugar, reports Businessweek. The product will be available in three varieties: 2%, skim and chocolate. ADVERTISEMENT ADVERTISEMENT ?It?s basically the premiumisation of milk? We?ll charge twice as much for it as the milk we?re used to buying in a jug,? Sandy Douglas, Senior Vice President and Global Chief Customer Officer of Coca-Cola North America, said at Morgan Stanley?s Global Consumer Conference last week. Most of the milk used in the new drink will come from family-owned farms and Coca-Cola says that it is dedicated to ?pursuing the highest standards of milk quality, agricultural sustainability and animal comfort.? There are no protein powders, synthetic supplements or growth hormones added. Fairlife is created using a ?cold filtration? process that allows the ?good stuff? to remain concentrated while filtering out fats and sugars. The resulting product is also lactose free. Douglas also claims it just "tastes better." Fairlife advertising campaigns feature scantily models dressed in strategic splashes of milk. The milk will be sold in 32-ounce for $2.99 and 52-ounce bottles for $3.99 as suggested retail prices. Read More:
+LogicalApex MVC Posted November 26, 2014 MVC Share Posted November 26, 2014 Not too far off pricing wise. Lactose free milk is already usually 2x the cost of regular milk. Order_66, +E.Worm Jimmy, Praetor and 1 other 4 Share
Praetor
Not too far off pricing wise. Lactose free milk is already usually 2x the cost of regular milk. yeah but while lactose free milk has a target (people that NEED lactose free food - and it's damn expensive, should be more accessible - have digestion problems with lactose milk), this one is just stupid. More protein and more calcium? for what? there are some studies that claim that humans should drink milk only during youth and not adulthood because it has more negative effects then positive. bigmehdi, Dick Montage and Bryan R. 3 Share

I think that the calcium is beneficial. My wife was told that she could no longer consume dairy (not exactly because of lactose problems, but other allergy related problems). She started to have bone issues, and it turned out she wasn't getting enough calcium. She never drank milk directly, but cutting cheese out of her diet was sufficient to lower her calcium noticeably. There are some studies that say anything and everything. Every couple years one will come out saying Milk is fantastic for everyone and the next year a study will come up saying its the worst thing for you. Older people often have to take calcium supplements for bone loss. My mother does. Wouldn't scare people off drinking milk as adults. Even besides nutritional uses, there are other positive uses, warm milk can help you sleep :> Even if you don't drink it, its in a lot of other products people eat including for health purposes. Yogurt, cottage cheese, etc. Btw, I find the marketing for this product completely a turn off, its not effective at all.. not that I'm planning to buy some :>

Brony
After the soy milk, and the rest of milk that aren't milk at all, im not sure how popular it will be.
jakem1
Or people could just, you know, drink water. Coca Cola already tried that in the UK and it was carcinogenic. Better for you than totally natural milk? I doubt it. Totally natural milk can kill you which is why it's pasteurised and homogenised. remixedcat
I actually have hyper-calcemia which I have too much calcium levels so I can't consume much dairy as a result or I feel really sick and my joints/bones ache really bad.

We ran the milk through a "separator" which resulted in extracting the cream from the milk and leaving skim milk which we consumed. Many times we would just catch the filtered whole, raw milk also and drink that. We kept the milk in glass containers refrigerated, it would last a week no problem. We also kept the cream, using it to make ice cream and butter etc., and we sold the surplus to neighbors and other friends from town. The milk and cream not used was picked up by a local milk processor. The whole/skim milk we would have in the refrigerator and after a while the cream in the whole milk would raise to the top, you would have to shake it before pouring it into a glass. We also had fruit trees on the farm, peach my favorite, there is nothing like fresh peaches covered with fresh raw cream. Arachno 1D
Much like Chickens it not so much Milk thats the problem nowadays but the infections/bateria whatever you want to call it the animals can carry that are bad for you.Mass farming techniques plus the use of less natural feeding techniques and chemical treatments have had big impacts on food quality be it Chicken meat, eggs or milk. In the Uk all we seem to hear at the moment is make sure you boil eggs and cook chicken realy well to remove the risk of salmonella also less washing of the carcase to remove the risk of campylobacter bacteria

+E.Worm Jimmy Subscriber¹ Posted November 26, 2014 Subscriber¹ Share Posted November 26, 2014 i think it has potential to be better then regular store bought milk. i might give it a try, if i need milk for something. most of the store bought milk is already processed and comes from a cow factory, so coca cola cannot really denature it much further. i love kefir / cheese / sour cream though, not milk.
