Uploader brings up old windows style dialog without places

Uploader brings up old windows stle dialog without places:

Browser: Latest Waterfox build. OS: Multiple occurs on

1) Every other site uses the "custom places" new dialog but this one and 1 other IPB powered site

2) This gets pretty annoying, as I have custom places that make sorting easier.

3) It sometimes crashes "plugincontainer.exe" and the browser crashes.

All other flash uploaders like imgur, FB, etc load the places dialog and it doesn't crash the browser.

Here's what it should look like:

It happens in 7 too from time to time, usually cleaning cookies, deleting browser history and a restart fixes it. Or you can chance the fire settings (4th icon next to the 'look in' drop down bar)

Yeah I've seen this before, and it varies via different browsers, it might be related to the Browser User Agent ID it is sending across. Does Waterfox have an add-on that you can temp change the UA to make the site think it is Chrome? Just to see what happens.

I guess you refer to the "Advanced Uploader" on Neowin which relies on Flash?

Historically you couldn't select multiple files on a website without using plugins. However, with HTML5 it is now possible to do multiple file select and upload. Websites like Facebook, imgur, etc. use the new HTML5 methods of file uploads which the browser can handle by itself, using the new "places" dialog.

Unfortunately Flash still uses the old dialog, it seems, for their Waterfox version (I assume 64-bit version). The 32-bit version that regular Firefox uses has the new dialog.

Hopefully Neowin updates to use the new HTML5 stuff, or Flash updates their file selection method... otherwise Waterfox users probably have to stick with the basic uploader...

So it's more a flash problem???

Seems like it... I tried a few flash based uploader demos that I found... e.g.

http://www.uploadify.com/demos/

http://www.easyalgo.com/examples/eaflashupload/imagesuploadwithpreview.aspx

http://digitarald.de/project/fancyupload/3-0/showcase/attach-a-file/

and all of them show the old dialog in Waterfox, but the new dialog in Firefox and Chrome.
