I'm trying to avoid third-party theming utilities (WindowBlinds, UxTheme, etc.) so that I can apply the theme on my work PCs; they frown on changing system files. Here's what it looks like now: In the upper left corner, I want to put my PC name. I got the idea of placing several icons next to each other, each with a few letters on it and then using multiple icons to spell something out. Trouble is, there is too much space between the taskbar icons to make the words flow correctly. In the screenshot above, I have one icon that says "ericr" and another that says ".org". They're not spaced quite right. Anyone know if there is a simple way to change the spacing? I wish Microsoft gave us the nice tweaking tools we used to have without resorting to system file hacks on Windows 8... Thanks in advance! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
zhangm Supervisor Posted November 26, 2014 Supervisor Share Posted November 26, 2014 I don't know how to solve the spacing question, but for placing text in the taskbar, could you not create an empty folder somewhere on your machine with the desired text as its name, and then make a new toolbar in the taskbar, pointed at that folder?
