Finding a Decent Clock for a Girl

Recommended Posts

If in doubt what I'm talking about, re-read the title...

My partner is after a clock.  I have a basic, cheapy of the cheap:

I was thinking about this one:

But it's quite small, only 10cm length - H3 x W10.5 x D6.5cm.

Any ideas on something suitable for a lady?

I know a lot of people use their phones but she wants a CLOCK, not a phone.

Thanks :D

Sony ICFC1PJ Alarm Clock Radio FTW.  I got one for my birthday this year and it was a bit of a splurge, but worth every penny... My wife has said how much she enjoys the time display on the ceiling and I have too, especially since I sleep facing the clock and even on the lowest setting, the LED display on the face is still a bit too bright for me.  The single best thing about it is the simplicity of use.  I got mine at Amazon in September when it was $60, but according to this search result, they can be found cheaper elsewhere at the moment: https://www.google.com/search?q=Sony+ICFC1PJ+Alarm+Clock+Radio&oq=Sony+ICFC1PJ+Alarm+Clock+Radio&aqs=chrome..69i57.809j0j4&sourceid=chrome&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8

Girls can tell time ... ?

Considering how late all of the women I know run I didn't think they could. Be careful, OP, your partner might think you're making a point about her lateness if you buy her a clock :p

Does she have any specific hobbies or interests? Like if she really loves Star Wars you could buy her a SW themed clock. A favourite game. Movie franchise. A colour? Maybe something a little retro like one of those old keywound alarm clocks? Perhaps one with a dock so she can charge her phone?

I really dig the split-flap display clocks from the 70s. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0050UNODA/ref=as_li_ss_il?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B0050UNODA&linkCode=as2&tag=onryinjapan-20

Be certain she specifically asked for it. NEVER buy a woman a gift related to: time keeping, cleaning, dieting, or self improvement. You will be running the risk of her inferring that you think she's lazy and unreliable, a slob (or that it's HER duty to clean), she's fat, or has problems.

That said, maybe look at something like this one:

My wife and I have a different one, but same concept. The projector can display the time on the wall or ceiling so you don't have to lift your head to see what time it is. It makes it easier to fall back asleep if you wake up too early. This one has the added feature of nature sounds, which is nice.

I would, however, suggest that you look for a clock with RED illuminated numbers, not blue.

The worst gifts are perfume, soaps, lotions, and other body stuff and specially dody. That is just insulting and makes you think the giver thinks you smell
