If you use Firefox, try Download Them All.

Beyond that, I'm a big fan of Free Download Manager, but no idea if it works with share sites.

I know DTA but is not a good site for share sites.

Any more alternatives?

I have a question, dont mean to hijack the thread -

Why do people use downloaders ?  What is the benefit ?

I know its not speed, unless they do some unique compression, you cant download faster than what your ISP gives you - so what is/are the benefits ?

Thanks

-Threaded downloads

-Automatically takes care of download timers and redirects on sites

-Download source video even from (supported) streaming sites

-Shutdown/unzip/unRAR after downloads are complete

-Track and restart downloads even across complete shutdowns/restarts

I've always though the same exact thing!! Download managers are useless, IMO.

I don't believe most of those file sharing sites allow managers unless you use their specific manager or unless you have a premium account with them.

OK, well with the features mentioned above, I guess they are not for me.

But thanks for the info.

Honestly, I thought the only people using them anymore was people in 3rd world countries using dial-up connections or something where they think it speeds up their connection.

I guess I need to keep looking for that killer app that I want/need.

It does speed up your download speed. Even when using only one connection, compared to the in-browser download manager.

Here's a download from AMD's site with the browser's download manager:

Same download in JDownloader 2:

The increase in download speed can be seen even more, when the download manager using more than one connection to the server that offered you slow download speeds with a single connection to the server using the browser's default download manager.

Single connection using the default browser's download manager:

Download manager connected to the same server, using ten connections:

Can see a big difference.

Here is some. JetDownloader is another one I fount looking at a multihoster. CryptLoad, JetDownloader, Mipony and pyLoad is the closest thing to JDownloader. Neowin has a list of some Freeware Alternative List look for 14-07 Download Managers -> One-Click Hosts. JDownloader 1/2 is the best IMO. I use JDownloader 2 with no problems. Something else to think about is getting a multihoster provider. Here is a list https://board.jdownloader.org/showthread.php?t=42131.

for me, 2 reasons... one is to save streaming content, but the biggest reason for me is to limit the speed... i only have a 4 meg connection out in  the country so if I am downloading something I do not want the current download to eat up all my speed since I still want to do other things while downloading. So I limit the download to from 10-300 kb/s and then use the net as normal.
