KY town lets residents pay off parking tickets with food donation

WASHINGTON ?  Residents in one Kentucky city can pay off years of parking violations in exchange for a donation to the local food bank.

?It?s a great way for citizens to clear their record and help those in need at the same time,? Lexington Parking Authority Executive Director Gary Means said in a written statement.

The LPA is offering up the parking ticket amnesty in exchange for a 10-can donation to God?s Pantry Food Bank. The program runs through Dec. 19.

The city says it prefers canned vegetables, at least 14-15 ounces. Just don?t try to slip in damaged goods, Means warns. The city isn?t accepting expired, damaged or opened food donations and reserves the right to kick out anyone in the program.

?These canned food items will help stick the shelves of our four Lexington Pantry locations which help feed hungry Fayette County families year round who may not know where their next meal is coming from,? Marian Guinn, CEO of God?s Pantry Food Bank, said

Way cheap to get out of a ticket. :p
