He wasn't pleased with the number of spanish speaking member of the team. But, tejada speaks it, Mora speaks it, Pudge speaks it (if we sign him). So, maybe he'll jump on board. Chad Posted December 17, 2003 Share Posted December 17, 2003 They'll get both. The yankees will not get Vlad because they just signed Sheffield. They have a solid outfield. Kenny Lofton, Sheffield, and Hideki Matsui, with Bernie most likely a DH. There's no reason for the yanks to even want Vlad anymore, which they don't. And the Cubs WILL NOT get Pudge because he's asking for too much, and for too many years. Cubs want to give 2 years, Pudge wants 4 or 5. It's more likely that the Cubs will get Lopez than get Pudge. The only other possible place Vlad could go is Florida, because of the large spanish speaking population. But Florida is cutting payroll. They may get Lopez to replace Pudge though. He proved himself last year, but if the orioles sign him for 4-5 years, i think the remaining two years may be a waste. Well, maybe he can transfer to 1b or something like Piazza wants to do..
