I'm curious if anyone is playing Star Citizen?

If you're playing Star Citizen, I'm curious what your thoughts are and which package you started with.

I'll play it when there's something worth playing.  Arena Commander?  Not so much.

Star Citizen as an entity does not yet exist. They are developing it as modules. So far only the hangar and arena commander (dogfighting) are available. FPS should be out some time soon and the PU is likely going to be late 2015 or early 2016.

As of right now, you can get:

 

1. Hanger

This is where your ships are housed. You can decorate it and walk around checking out your ships)

 

2. Dog Fighting

Not point-and-click like Eve Online. You actually pilot your ship. Not all ships are available for

this yet, but they're getting put in as the ships are finalized (ish).

 

3. Racing

As above, you actually pilot your ship around the different race tracks.

 

4. Free roam

This is where you take your ship into space and practice piloting it.

 

Yes, this was a Kickstarter-funded project. However, it has earned over 60 Million dollars

so far and is NOT going to be governed by a studio like Electronic Arts. The game

developer is in complete control of the project. If you haven't heard of it, go look it

up on Youtube and the official website. It's pretty damn impressive.

I don't doubt it'll be impressive when it's done, but right now it's about as exciting as a dead rat.

 

Kinda wish I hadn't prepaid for it.

<Shrug> It's exciting to me because it's still in it's infancy, yet looks and

handles far better than (I think) anyone expected. They're not hiding

the fact that it's in early development, nor that money paid into the game

right now is funding the game. If you pre-paid for it, you had to know

you were not paying for a full release upon payment.

Not sure if you wasted your money depending on when you "backed". I assume the final product won't be as cheap.

until it releases in MAYBE one year I'll be playing Elite Dangerous instead, which is actually finished.
