I assume this is optimised for the GPU's that have GCN - hopefully those improvements will roll off to the iMac users which have the M290X/M295X GPU's because from what I have heard the GCN architecture has a lot of potential that has yet to be fully exploited by the drivers.

I read that Tech Spot article a few hours ago and it had a link to AMD and their own download section but the driver is nowhere to be found. I will look for it tomorrow in the morning and try it.

I'm very interested in this, hopefully they can make it so I don't HAVE to uninstall the previous driver unless I want to be greeted with a flashing "_" on my monitor until I reboot.

Just installed them -- so far looks pretty solid from the few brief tests I threw at it.  Might be a placebo effect, but seems to handle stress better than the previous versions (not necessarily faster but smoother overall), can't put my finger on it but the desktop fonts look a hair different too, in a good way.

Yeah, so far so good here too. I'm hoping they've finally fixed the black screens that'd randomly happen with my 290X and the BSODs that'd occur when MSI Afterburner was installed. Otherwise I'd have to go back to 14.4.

A recent user told me a story about something similar.

AMD at one point in the past between the gap of HD 4xxx and HD 5xxx released new drivers whilst only including certain DXVA features for the HD 5xxx generation.

Naturally the HD 4xxx could handle it but "marketing" prevailed.

So he started a campaign which blew up into an endless debate on one of the bigger tech forums.

Sure enough AMD changed their stance and started including support.

The details escape me right now... maybe I will find it in some of my notes.

Hi Indospot ;)

Laptop Model: HP Pavilion G6-1230sp

Windows Version: Windows 8.1

AMD Card: AMD Radeon HD 6470M

Intel Card: Intel HD Graphics 3000

Should work for you.

Install the switching tab fix once you are done:

Unfortunately it really doesn't work, so much that it won't even give me an option to install it.

Hmm so CIM isn't even showing the driver as an option?

I know that AMD has split up their packages. Windows 7 and 8.1 are 2 different links.

If the inf file begins with CU = Windows Blue/ 8.1 C7 = Windows 7.

So have a look.

I checked your previous msgs and it seems like some of the modded drivers worked for you.

So it cannot be down to the driver not being compatible.

What about the blurry text in Firefox bug that's been around for a long time now.....

Haven't seen that in quite some time, thought it was fixed long ago.  Been using hardware acceleration with no issues for the past few major versions now.  (Not saying it doesn't exist, just disappeared for me quite a while back, working perfectly.)
