World's oldest two-faced cat dies

WORCESTER, Mass., Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Frank and Louie, the two-faced cat that gained worldwide attention as the longest surviving Janus cat, died, his owner said. The Massachusetts cat was 15.

Frank and Louie were lauded as the 2012 Guinness World Record holder as the world's oldest two-faced cat. He had three eyes, two noses, two mouths, one esophagus and one brain.

Frank and Louie's owner said the cat was "a little down" around Thanksgiving and was raced to Tuft's University's Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine, where he later died. :/

Janus animals have a genetic disorder that causes craniofacial duplication, and typically don't live for more than a few days. Frank and Louie was named the oldest living Janus cat when he was 12.

15 years is the average lifespan for a cat, I think, Its actually very remarkable for a Janus kitty to live that long. Still, its always sad when a pet dies.

I think I need to give Chara a little extra attention tonight after hearing this. She's only 8 thankfully, so she should be around for a long time.

My aunt's cat made it it to about 19.5 years.

My brother's cat Pooka died last year at the age of 22. I'm hoping I can take care of Chara well enough to have that long a life. As long as the she can still have decent quality of life.

That's sad! R.I.P, Frank and Louie!  :(

On an unrelated note: Shame no pictures of this cat are available on this thread because I kinda wanted to know what the cat looks like.

A shame the cat couldn't split in two before birth. :/
