The Xbox One was the #1 seller in the United States and United Kingdom.

Corporate Vice President of Xbox Marketing Mike Nichols has confirmed that the Xbox One was the best-selling console during November 2014, not only in the United States, but the United Kingdom as well. Additionally, the Xbox One accounted for more game sales during the month than either the PS4 or Wii U.

Mike Nichols had the following to say:

We are committed to making Xbox the best place to play, with this year?s best games, the best community of gamers to play with, and terrific value. And we are amazed by the excitement Xbox fans have shown to start off this holiday. November set a new record for sales of Xbox One, and Xbox One was the best-selling console in the US and UK.* Response to the holiday lineup of games on Xbox One was incredible, with Xbox One fans buying more games in November in the U.S. than any other gen eight platform and enjoying over 357 million hours of gameplay globally. In fact, more fans logged into Xbox Live across Xbox One and Xbox 360, and enjoyed more entertainment, than any other month in the history of Xbox. We love to see the excitement from our fans and are grateful for their passion, support and contributions to the Xbox community.

* Based on data from NPD GFK ChartTrack

Microsoft attacked the market hard during November by instituting a $50 price drop for the Xbox One?s Assassin?s Creed Unity bundle. During Black Friday weekend the price was dropped $20 further at most retailers in the United States, some of which sold out of stock within a couple hours. Target even offered the $329 Xbox One Assassin?s Creed Unity bundle with a $50 gift card included with purchase.

Some have counted the Xbox One out of the current-gen console race after the PS4?s record-setting numbers during 2014. However, strong software support, frequent firmware updates, and a quick reduction of the Xbox One?s price point has made it very competitive during the most important time of the year.

Microsoft is expected to discontinue the price drop of the Xbox One in early January. If that happens, sales may die back down. Ultimately, price matters a lot.

As far as software goes, below you can find the top 10 most sold games during Nonmember 2014:

1.) Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (360, XBO, PS4, PS3, PC)

2.) Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3)

3.) Super Smash Bros. (NWU, 3DS)

4.) Madden NFL 15 (360, XBO, PS4, PS3)

5.) Pokemon Alpha Sapphire (3DS)

6.) Far Cry 4 (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3, PC)

7.) Pokemon Omega Ruby (3DS)

8.) NBA 2K15 (PS4, 360, XBO, PS3, PC)

9.) Assassin?s Creed: Unity (PS4, XBO, PC)

10.) Halo: The Master Chief Collection (XBO)

It?s great to see Super Smash Bros. for Wii U on the list in addition to Halo: The Master Chief Collection as these are two of our favorite games of the year.

Never heard of this NPD group. Are they as reliable as VG Chartz?

Me throwing at a dartboard with random figures on (in millions) would be as reliable as VG Chartz. :p NPD Group are usually the go-to market research company for console sales in North America; have been for years. Here in the UK, it's GFK Chart-Track.

CBOAT popped up on GAF again (first time in a long time) and said 7-8k difference, we'll have numbers soon. It's expected both went over or hit near 1 million, which is nuts.

If, and a big if it's true, MS bled a lot of money to cut their bundles like they did. Sony held on pricing. MS can't really do that again, November is a special month with Black Friday.

Pretty weird for MS to mention the UK in an NPD statement as well.

MS bleed money? Do you figures and facts to back that up? Don't expect ps4 to drop in price till next summer with maybe an e3 announcement, but than again can sony even afford that. That is the one of a few division that didn't have a disastrous year for sony.Even in that division you got failures in vita, play station home, etc.

Anyways , there's articles stating that xbox one have been profitable since launch.

No need to attempt to downplay recent facts with rumors.

I'm talking about the prices the console was sold for in November with all the games included. Those units won't have been sold for a profit at some of the black friday sales.

@Enron, just reporting the words on numbers so far. Hold on another hour or two and you'll have exact numbers.

Well we'll know for sure how their financials were affected in their next quarterly report. As a MSFT investor I'm not worried in the least. Microsoft MINTS money. They're incredibly profitable and have many stable and GROWING $billion+ revenue/earnings streams.  If Microsoft really wanted to go total war, slash & burn, Ghengis Khan, nuclear on Sony they could definitely outlast SEC in any pricing war.  Sony, for better or for worst, is hemorrhaging $$$ at the seams, it's a patient who barely has a pulse and could go at any moment.  Before the PS Ninja attack force come out in full force I own a PS4 and love it, admittedly I don't use it as often as my XO bcs it lacks HDMI input and I use my consoles far more for media consumption honestly that pure gaming, but I still love those PS4 exclusives on the rare occasion I can set aside an hour or two to game.

apparently ~400K win for xb1. the gap in the U.S was previously 1mill between the two. One month and almost slashed this in half. Microsoft gonna clean up some more in December.

oh yeah, lets not mention cbloat again

Sony held on pricing? I thought there was BF special at $349 + game/gcard?

I doubt MS lost that much money, they probably sold at no loss levels.

That's what I'm seeing as well.

Edit: Looks like people are calling shenanigans on cboat's numbers.

Whats the deal with people using neogaf forum posters as sources these days?

The numbers that have been throw around suggest the Xbox One sold bit under 1.2 Million and the PS4 sold a bit above 850k.

350K difference for November, quite an achievement for Xbox and the first win since launch.

Price cut and great bundles did great for the Xbox One, hopefully they continue.

These days? It's been like that since early 2013 because almost all of the ####storms about PS4/XB1 started there.

That's a strong showing, the deals are still going to be around for this month as well so the odds of them coming out on top for December is high.

The January 21st Windows 10 event will have Xbox One news as well, can't wait to see what they show off.

well that's your claim, and it also ignores the fact the retailers are often the ones who take the loss on these sales.

and MS could sell it at a loss for years if they wanted, but at this point I suspect they're either slightly positive or breaking even.

There's no other forum those with information post on. Quite often NPD numbers leak on there first.

CBOAT is banned on GAF now for misinformation.
