In the market for a computer desk.

As thread title really. Had a look through here for ideas but many of the battle station photos just show the PC itself & not desk.

I'm also looking for ideas of where the sub can go. I'd prefer not the floor. A mini shelf perhaps. Storage is also good. I'm not too choosy over the drawers-vs-shelves debate. Just storage in general is good.

I was looking at something on the lines of those. Note the mini shelf in the centre where the sub could go.

Plenty of storage :)

I was also wondering about the build quality of some of the cheaper desks.

have you tried looking around second hand shops? i picked mine up from a charity furniture shop, ?50 and its massive! wide enough for dual monitor with a lower area to the left for the tower and printer, shelves bottom right for the sub etc!

Subs go on the floor, that's how they are designed, placing it on a shelf could possibly add vibration and mess with the bass sound

Hmm then i guess i shouldn't have it on my A-I-O printer right now :D lol

I know i shouldn't, i'm just extremely limited with space right now. Can't wait to get in the new place.

I had a look at IKEA. The best one i could find i thought was this one

But 2 drawers isn't much storage.

I also found a major sticking point in virtually ALL the desks i've been looking at ............ the section where your tower goes isn't enough for my tower.

The dimensions of my tower are: 47.5cm high - 50.5cm long - 21cm wide

When measuring the desks that actually provide measurements, the height always appears to be a problem, the length usually is a problem but the width is ok.

Very annoying. I wanted plenty storage space but it looks like i'll have to take a basic desk like the IKEA example. My other gripe with that IKEA desk is it's only 120cm across. Most of the desks i've been looking at were 140cm.

Go to eBay and look for ex-office equipment.

I always get my office furniture from there as it is ridiculously cheap, always in top notch order and there's usually a lot of different types of stuff to choose from.

Not long a go i picked up a 8' x 3' curved desk, commercial quality for ?40!

Was this delivered or collect? As i'm not able to collect.

I also only just had a delayed brainwave. Perhaps i should stop googling "computer desk" & instead just google "desk" to see if there's anything more suitable.

Bit annoying as i'd have liked the tower to be in its own specific section, but it looks like it'll have to go on the floor. I'm limited in table length to a maximum of 160cm due to room layout unfortunately.

I would go to a office furniture expo, where they get rid of used office furniture cheap.  You can find a nice mahogany desk with lots of space for next to nothing.
